DENTAL IMPLANTS

A dental implant is a metallic root of a tooth. It is placed in the bone of your jaw by a dentist and allowed to heal in the bone for a period of time until the bone-implant union is strong enough to support a prosthetic tooth. The implant is made out of titanium, a metal that is very well tolerated by the human body.
When we use a dental implant to replace missing teeth, we will first determine if you have enough supporting bone to safely place a dental implant to support a prosthetic tooth. The implant is placed into the bone in a very specific surgical procedure to insure that the implant will not be rejected by your body. In order to place the implant in the bone, it is necessary to cut through the gum tissue. The gum tissue will usually be sewed up either over the implant or around the implant after it is placed into the bone. The implant will then be allowed to heal in the bone for several months until the union is strong enough to support the prosthetic tooth.
Dental implants are considered to be a permanent solution, however there is a chance of non-acceptance. Sometimes the dental implant does not integrate and it will be lost. In those cases, another implant might have to placed and become permanent. Sometimes, the restoration will have to be repaired or serviced. As a matter of fact, most restorations will require some degree of maintenance and sometimes replacement over a period of time. Prepare yourself for future expenses in this regard.
COSMETIC DENTISTRY
The Most Attractive Smile Possible.
 |
We preform various cosmetic procedures according to the wishes and needs of our patient. Our highly qualified dentists use the latest advances in science and technology to create your most attractive smile possible. |
We offer the following examples of typical procedures:
Each tooth, like the member of a family, supports the others and helps them do their job. Your teeth enable you to eat and speak comfortably. When one or more is injured or missing, the health of others may be threatened. It may become hard for you to chew, or the appearance of your smile may change. If youre having problems with one or more of your teeth, your dentist can help you decide if a crown, implant, fixed bridge, or partial denture can help restore your teeth to their normal function.
Not everyone is aware of problems with their teeth. Injured or missing teeth do not always hurt at first. But if theyre not restored or replaced quickly, it can progressively lead to bite problems, T.M.J dysfunction, decay on adjacent teeth, and gum disease. There are many restorative procedures, such as:
Laser Bleaching
Bonding
Teeth Whitening
Tooth Colored Fillings
Veneers
Porcelain Inlay and Onlays
DENTAL WHITENING
| Its actually a bleaching process that lightens discolorations of enamel and dentin. One system uses a mild solution retained in a custom-fitted tray that is worn over your teeth either while you sleep or several hours during the day. The other system utilizes laser activation for achieving office visit speed. |

ENDODONTIC THERAPY
Root Canal
The primary purpose of Endodontic Therapy is to retain teeth that would otherwise have to be removed due to injury to the dental pulp. It is better and less expensive to retain your tooth when possible. There are many disadvantages of tooth loss. When a tooth is removed and not replaced, the teeth surrounding the empty space often begin to shift, tilt and rotate out of alignment. This creates more problems and could result in the loss of more teeth. Therefore, you should have an artificial tooth (bridge or dental implant) put in the place of the removed natural tooth. The cost of the prosthesis is usually more than the cost of Endodontic Therapy and often involves dental work on adjacent teeth. If a tooth is not replaced, your chewing efficiency is decreased and your appearance can also be affected. A healthy natural tooth is always better than an artificial tooth. Root canal treatment makes it possible to retain a tooth that would otherwise be lost. About Endodontic Care
Endodontic treatment removes tissue from inside the tooth that has been damaged by trauma or infected by decay. This tissue, called the pulp, contains nerves and blood vessels that provide pain signals from the tooth in case of injury. After the pulp is removed, the pulp chamber and root canal system are cleaned, disinfected and sealed.
Although the pulp is removed, the treated tooth remains alive and functional since it is still nourished by the surrounding gums and jaw. There is no substitute for your own tooth, which is more efficient in chewing than an artificial prosthesis.
Endodontic Therapy usually takes from one to four appointments. With the use of local anesthetics, the treatment is comfortable. After the appointment some soreness and discomfort may persist. These symptoms can usually be relieved with over-the-counter pain medications.
Our Outstanding Success Rate
Approximately ninety percent of endodontically treated teeth respond to conventional Endodontic Therapy. The remaining ten percent may later require a surgical procedure. Fortunately, surgical endodontics also has a high degree of success. Therefore, your restored tooth can last a lifetime if you continue to properly care for your teeth.
It takes approximately twelve to eighteen months for the bone around the root of the tooth to heal and show up clearly on an x-ray. It is in your best interest to return for a recall examination to allow evaluation of the healing process. We will send you a written reminder when it is time to return. Please telephone the office in which you were treated for an appointment when you receive this notice. Since it can take longer than one year for the tissues surrounding the tooth to completely heal, it may be necessary to check it more than once.
ORAL SURGERY

Wisdom Teeth Extraction Under Local
Anesthesia or Nitrous Oxide Gas |
Wisdom teeth (your third molars) are the last teeth to come in and the ones least needed for oral health. They may not erupt, or emerge from your gums, until your late teens or early twenties if they erupt at all. Most often, theyre impacted, or trapped in the jawbone and gums, usually because theres not enough room for them in your mouth. Our jaws are smaller than those of early humans who needed larger jaws and more teeth for their tougher diet. We dont need that extra chewing power anymore. In fact, wisdom teeth often do more harm than good, and your dentist may recommend removing them.

PERIODONTICS
Periodontal diseases, also known as gum disease, are some of the most common infections in the United States. In fact, more than 75% of American adults over age 35 have some form of periodontal disease. Periodontal diseases are a major cause of tooth loss in adults. Periodontal disease may be a risk factor in fatal coronary heart disease, stroke, as well as low birth weight and premature births in pregnant women.
Despite the number of people infected with these diseases, most believe that they dont have them. In a recent survey, eight out of ten Americans believe they did not have periodontal diseases, but seven out of ten exhibited one or more symptoms.
Periodontal diseases are painless until their advanced stages. If left untreated they irritate the gum, causing infection, periodontal diseases can result in bad breath; red, swollen, bleeding gums, and eventually tooth loss.
Despite all these facts, periodontal diseases are some of the most preventable diseases. To prevent periodontal diseases you need to understand what causes them, learn and practice good oral health habits, and seek regular professional care.
What are periodontal diseases?
There are many forms of periodontal diseases. The most common ones include:
Gingivitis
Mild Periodontitis
Moderate-Advanced Periodontitis
What other factors might contribute to periodontal diseases?
Although plaque is the primary cause of periodontal diseases, other factors can affect the health of your gums, including:
Smoking/tobacco use
Pregnancy and puberty
Stress
Medications
Clenching or grinding your teeth
Diabetes
Poor nutrition
Systemic disease
You can help your doctor in the fight against periodontal diseases by learning the warning signs.
If you notice any of the following indications, see your doctor immediately:
Gums that bleed when brushing or flossing.
Red, swollen or tender gums.
Gums that have pulled away from the teeth. Puss between the teeth and gums when the gums are pressed.
Persistent bad breath or bad taste. Permanent teeth that are loose or you notice new spaces.
Any change in the way your teeth fit together when you bite.
Any changes in the fit of prostheses such as partial dentures.
Periodontal evaluation is necessary to determine the first step toward treatment of the periodontal disease.
During periodontal evaluation, many different aspects are being examined:
Pocket depths
Attached gingiva
Recessions
Mobility
Drifted teeth (teeth that are tipped or rotated).
In terms of treating periodontal disease, the first step is usually a thorough cleaning which may include SCALING to remove calculus deposits above and beneath the gum-line. To aid in the healing process, tooth roots may be planned. ROOT PLANING smoothes the root surface so that gum tissue next to the teeth may heal and reattach properly. Antibiotics or anti-microbial mouth rinses may also be recommended to control growth of several types of bacteria which create toxins, cause periodontal disease or inhibit the healing process.
